Today we’re stopping by Cafe Colonial in the Bronx. This Dominican-Latin fusion restaurant features dishes like mofongo, chofan, and lots of marisco options, all in very shareable portions. You could get one dish and share, if you’re into that, or just grab a ton of appetizers and go to town.

My favorite? Chofan (Dominican fried rice or Chow fan) is just one example of the Chinese-Dominican community’s influence. A humble, flavorful dish, it can be found anywhere from Calle Duarte in Santo Domingo Chinatown to remote Dominican towns.
Also marisco means seafood 🐙

What about mofongo? Mofongo is a traditional Caribbean dish that shares roots in both The Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. While similar, The Dominican version carries some distinct differences. The base begins with mashed green Plantains, mixed up with chicharrón (fried pork skins) and topped off with melted cheese and a garlic broth.
Portions are big here, so bring a friend ❤️
