Taking better care of your car is the sign of an adult who has their life together. It’s also a good way to ensure that your ride always looks great, and doesn’t cost you as much in repairs over the years, but how exactly do you treat your car right?
Have it services regularly
If you’re serious about caring for your car click this link now and book your vehicle in for a service. It really is that simple. If you have your car serviced on a regular schedule, it will run better, handle better, and last longer. It’s like a health check-up for your car and it is non-negotiable.
Clean it at least once a month
Really you could clean your car every week, but if you don’t have the actual time for that, make sure to schedule in time for a full clean and detail at least once a month, I’m talking inside and out. Buy yourself a chamois leather, bucket, portable vacuum cleaner, and keep that baby looking as good as new. Or, y’know you could just take it to a professional detailing company and let them do the hard work for you.
Change the oil every 5,000 miles
Most cars need the oil to be changed every 5-7,000 miles. Oil is important because it helps to lubricate the vehicle’s engine to stop it from overheating and keep dirt and debris at bay. If you fail to change the oil on schedule, you could end up with a dead engine and a bill running into the thousands of dollars.
Check the tire pressure regularly
Ideally, you should be checking your vehicle’s tire pressure every month. If the pressure is incorrect, it could lead to a whole host of issues from vehicle instability which could cause accidents) to poor fuel mileage, and even the dreaded flat tire problem.
Store it right
If, for any reason, you aren’t going to be driving your vehicle for a while, it’s vital that you store it safely and correctly or it could end up succumbing to damage. Stored cars need to be cleaned, covered, filled with enough gas to get them going, and ideally started once in a while to keep the battery working. This will ensure everything is still working when you start it up again and help to prevent spiders, raccoons, rats, and all manner of critters from taking up residence in and under your car. I mean, you might have always wanted a pet, but really?
Drive it responsibly
Last, but not least, when you are driving your car all around the neighborhood, you need to drive it responsibly. It may be tempting to speed when there’s no one around or whatever, but doing so will put unnecessary strain on the engine, the brake pads, the tires, and well basically everything. More importantly, you’ll put yourself and others at risk and that’s not cool.
Treat your car with respect, care for it, and keep it clean and it will reward you by being a smooth, smart ride.
Some preparations need to be undertaken before you head out for your road trip; these include checking your car to make sure it’s up for a long drive. Avoid common road trip mistakes by having your vehicle inspected by a professional before you hit the road. Proper packing and preparations for your road trip will result in a memorable road trip.
