It’s the start of a new year and many of us are considering ways we can improve our day to day lives. Now, resolutions don’t have to solely revolve around health – for example reaching a healthy weight, working out more or quitting bad habits. These can be great things to focus on, but why not consider improving your social life too?
Over the past couple of years, many of us have had very restricted social lives as a result of the pandemic. Lockdowns, social isolation, social distancing and other measures have meant seeing less of those we love in person. As vaccines are being rolled out and death and hospitalization rates are reducing, we’re slowly going to return to life as we knew it. Social hobbies can help you to get used to being around people again and can give you something to look forward to each week. Here are a few to take into consideration!
Golf
Golf is a great activity to engage in with friends. Sure, you can head to the driving range alone, but there’s also something great about playing a round with a friend or friends. Golf is a great form of exercise, but is also not too strenuous, meaning you can chat while you go. Whoever you’re with, you can use this as an opportunity to catch up, advise each other on different situations you’re going through and more. Some golf courses come with access to a Country Club where you can settle down for a drink and laugh after too!
Cafes and Restaurants
Dining out or sitting in a cafe can be a deeply cathartic experience. Not only do you get to enjoy professional made foods and drinks, but you also get to sit back and relax too. No worries about shopping for ingredients, cooking or cleaning up after. Instead, you can just focus solely on your company! Chat, get to know new people better or keep up to date with older friends. Plan a meal out once a month if your budget allows. There are countless different options to choose from and – on top of this – you can even head out on days when there are special offers, deals and discounts.
Book Clubs
Do you enjoy reading? Why not add a social element to this generally solitary activity? Book clubs are groups who select a book, give everyone a set amount of time to read it, then meet up to discuss what they’ve read. It’s a simple and straightforward premise, but it’s a great way to get out and about and meet people with similar interests to you. Of course, different clubs have different tastes, so seek out one that chooses books of the same genre as you like to read!
Hopefully, some of the suggestions above will appeal to you. If not, take some time to research and look into other options that might better tick your boxes! There are countless different social hobbies out there and there’s bound to be something you’ll enjoy.
Thanks for reading and y’all stay dandy.
