REASONS TO TAKE UP BASKETBALL IN 2021

It’s spring now and the weather has improved. This Has coincided with a near in to pandemic lockdown restrictions. As a result many people are noticing the effects of a limited winter season on their mind and their bodies. So how can we get your fitness level back up quickly for the warm summer month? One answer is basketball training. 

 

HEART HEALTH 

 

If you want to improve your heart health in 2021 then take up Basketball. Basketball is an excellent cardio workout that strengthens the heart muscle and builds stamina. The sport is a combination of running, interval training, jogging, and aerobics. 

 

To Improve the condition of your heart you need to raise your heart rate and make it work. If you do long distance running you will contribute to heart health but not with the same intensity as interval training. Basketball makes your workout more enjoyable. 

 

MUSCLE BUILDING

 

With all the restrictions we’ve had over winter and the continuing pandemic we’ve had a lot of muscle fatigue. If muscles are not used regularly they start to atrophy and become less effective. This also can also affect your overall sense of wellness

 

Basketball is an excellent way to build new muscles and to keep existing ones active. The sport requires you to use both lower and upper body strength which helps build core muscles groups. There’s no chance of your muscles forgetting their purpose with some basketball training. 

 

GENERAL FITNESS 

 

Unless you’ve kept up a fitness routine over winter your general fitness levels have probably dropped. You may not notice this at first, but when you go back to training, whether it is running, soccer, or aerobics you will notice an inability to keep up with the pace. 

 

Basketball can help you to get back on track. It is a very intensive sport that requires high fitness levels and playing for only a short time will tire you out. But that’s why it’s so good for building stamina. When you watch the NBA 2020 season you will see why it’s so good for building your general fitness back up fast. 

 

BONE STRENGTH

 

The strength of your bones isn’t something you tend to notice until you do. Bones grow weaker as we age and it’s important to maintain their strength and general health through active sports like basketball. This is even more important in 2021. 

 

We’ve had a whole year of restrictions that have caused people’s bodies to fatigue and fitness levels to drop. 2021 looks more promising, so why not boost your bone strength now with some basketball training. 

 

MENTAL SHARPNESS 

 

The body isn’t the only thing that suffers when we stay indoors working all the time. Our mental health becomes vulnerable too. When we stay within the confines of a limited environment all the time we become so familiar with them that our brains switch off. 

 

Basketball is a sport that requires intense concentration as well as good fitness levels. You not only have to think about the game, you also have to use your imagination and be creative. This all contributes to increased mental sharpness and better mental health.
