We all want to protect our space from intruders. Whether it’s protecting our living rooms from an onslaught of ants from the garden or protecting our bedrooms from mosquitoes in the night, protecting your home is important. There’s nothing quite like the unsettling and disturbing feeling of arriving home after work and seeing that your front door is wide open and your valuables have disappeared. It happens and it shouldn’t happen because.
People who aren’t looking after their homes correctly.May not be able to deter burglars, but even those who do everything possible can still find burglars in their homes. This means that you can do everything possible to protect your home, including going to the gun shooting range so that you have an accurate shot for an intruder coming into your home and still end up with somebody trying it. The most important thing you can do is feel like you’re getting somewhere and that means looking at how you can ensure that criminals don’t want to come near your house. Take a look at how you can prevent it below:
- Give them no place to hide. A house that is surrounded and partly covered by bushes is a house that is easy to target. Bad guys love to be able to work hidden away from everybody else’s eyes, so making sure that you have big bushes and extensive vegetation is more like a magnet. Keeping bushes trimmed back well lit and removing clutter in your yard to make sure that you can see everything is important. You don’t want to give somebody somewhere to hide.
- Install security cameras. If you can’t afford a full system then having dummy security cameras can help. We’ve all seen the footage of criminals screwing up and running away and it’s because they don’t realise that the camera was recording them until the last minute. Security cameras have come a long way and technology has become easier to manipulate in terms of making it hidden and still with great access. Security cameras alone can encounter burglars, especially if you don’t give them a closer look.
- Puts up security system signs and stickers. Most home security systems are subscription based with the monthly cost attached to them. If you can afford it, install one, but if you can’t afford it, put up the security system signs anyway. Sometimes these can be powerful enough to spook a burglar or an intruder. Dummy cameras are also a great way to do that because you can just have the presence of security as something that a burglar can see to deter them.
- Take a class in shooting a gun. If you live in places in the world where guns are legal as long as you are licensed, then it’s time to learn how to use one. You need to be able to keep it in a lock box away from children, but having it within distance if an intruder comes into your home is important.
