Your car is often thought of as an extension of you. If you want to build your personal brand, then one of the best things you can do is make sure your car reflects that.
If you wear a nice suit and a nice watch and arrange meetings with high up people, but show up in a car that is dented, scratched, and old, it isn’t going to reflect very well on your personal brand or business image. It might sound shallow, but many people don’t even realize that this is how they are judging you. A lot of it is subconscious. With this in mind, read on to figure out how you can make sure your car reflects your personal brand:
1. KEEP IT CLEAN
Your car should be clean – this goes without saying. What if you make an impromptu arrangement after a meeting to go out for lunch, or take somebody somewhere? You’ll avoid doing this if your car doesn’t look the part, when doing it could be very beneficial to your business relationships. Invest in having your car cleaned inside and out regularly, and make sure it smells nice. Take left over wrappers and things with you every time you exit the car.
2. MAKE SURE IT’S SAFE
Of course, having a clean car is one thing, but your car should also be safe. Nobody is going to want to ride in your car if you have a door missing or you’ve left the engine light on. Make sure you take your car into the garage when you suspect a problem. Drive responsibly and you’ll make the life of your car longer.
3. GIVE IT A NEW LOOK
If you can’t afford to get a fancy car that tells people you have a lot of money, that isn’t a problem. There are things you can do to make your current car look even better. You could give your current car a brand new look by investing in a paint job or ceramic coating. Just remember that paint correction is needed before a ceramic coating, so you should go to a professional. Try not to go by price alone, as you tend to get what you pay for and the last thing you want is for your car to look even worse.
You can also invest in new matts and seat covers to keep your car clean and tidy.
4. CONSIDER PRIVACY
Some people want to make their car nice and private so they don’t have to worry about people looking in. You might decide to get your windows tinted, but you’ll need to double check the regulations on this where you live and whether it will affect you driving anywhere else.
5. CONSIDER ADVERTISEMENT
If you have a business you want to promote and grow, your car could be the perfect ad space. If you drive it a lot and you know a lot of people would see the ad, then this could be a good idea. However, it doesn’t always look great, so if it’s just your personal brand you want to improve then doing this should be avoided. There’s no need to have your face blown up on the side of the car!
