Sometimes we can get stuck in a rut with daily routine, and forget about paying ourselves some well-deserved attention.
We spend our days in the workplace, and evenings and weekends we’re running around after family, tackling car or home maintenance or generally working through a to-do list as long as our arm. For this reason, appearance can end up right at the bottom of the priority list, and over time we can start losing confidence. If you’re looking in the mirror and don’t like what you see, or just need a boost to get you out of a rut, here are some ideas for going about it.
HIT THE GYM
If you have been feeling a little out of shape and found yourself thinking ‘I must start doing something about it’, stop procrastinating and make the decision to hit the gym. We can gain confidence by making a decision and taking action on it, so just deciding to go will give you a boost. If you begin working out on a regular basis it will give you more energy and a feeling of well being. Taking some time out for yourself now and you will not only benefit your health in the long run, but you can also enjoy the results now as you see the physical changes of toning up and shedding excess pounds.
INVEST IN THE SOME ACCESSORIES
We all like to have nice personal items; even if your everyday wardrobe is pretty simple, some extras like a new wallet, a designer belt, or some sunglasses to cut down the wrinkles from squinting in the sun are all nice treats. If you’re a tech lover, how about really treating yourself to an Apple Watch, not only is this a cool looking accessory but it can also track your fitness activity- the perfect pairing for your new active lifestyle. If you own a mac computer, the two gadgets sync up seamlessly together, from notifications to Apple pay, there are even sites showing you how to unlock your Mac with your watch such as https://setapp.com/how-to/unlock-mac-with-apple-watch. With all of the features it contains, it’s something that helps to make your life run smoother.
UPDATE YOUR HAIRSTYLE
Have you been wearing your hair the same way since college? Unfortunately for us guys, receding hairlines are common and most of us will experience some form of hair loss by age thirty five. For this reason, a style that looked good when we were eighteen probably won’t when we reach our thirties and beyond.
If you are concerned about hair loss or you would like to rejuvenate your hairline to give yourself a boost then why not consider FUE hair transplant or implant, also referred to as hair plugs. Many men find the regrowth of thinning or receding hair can give them a confidence boost as they get older.
The way your face shape changes with weight gain or loss will also affect how much a hairstyle will suit you, so if you’ve changed much (most of us have!) then it’s another reason to try something new. Go to a hairdresser and ask for some advice, maybe going a little shorter would be the answer or even shaving it off completely. Changing up your facial hair is another way to transform your appearance; beards are in, and so if you’ve always been clean-shaven then why not try something new. It’s only hair, if it turns out you don’t like it then you can always grow it back out or cut it off.
REMIND YOURSELF OF YOUR CAPABILITIES
Studies show that continually reminding yourself of what you are capable of can bring back lost confidence after sinking into rut routines. If you remind yourself how powerful you are, it can boost your self-esteem. Capabilities boost mental confidence, which reflects how you dress. For instance, waking up in the morning and reminding yourself how powerful you are can give you the morale to dress nicely and hit the gym or work.
There are a few ways to remind yourself of your capabilities, theoretically or through actions. You can write down a list of things you have achieved in life and what you are proud of as a reminder. If you feel that your driving skills have been a bit off, there’s no harm in redoing a G1 practice test. Besides, learning a new course to advance your career can improve your capabilities. With this, you will be a step closer to gaining back your confidence.
