There are many different tie knots for many different situations. Here’s one of my favorites. The “Prince Albert.” Named after Prince Albert and nothing else possible 😰 Here is how to tie a Prince Albert Knot.
This is a pretty easy tie knot to try. The Prince Albert Knot is oddly named because there’s no evidence to suggest that Prince Albert ever actually wore it. None the less, I love that extra fold you get with this knot. Its small size and slightly asymmetric appearance makes it a perfect complement to narrow collared shirts. Watch how I tie the Prince Albert knot.

HOW TO TIE A PRINCE ALBERT KNOT
- Start with the wide end of the tie on the right and the small end on the left. The tip of the small end should rest slightly above your belly-button (this will vary depending on your height and the length & thickness of your tie). Only move the active (wide) end.
- Wide end over the small end to the left.
- Under the small end and to the right.
- Across the front and to the left.
- Under the small end and to the right.
- Across the front and to the left.
- Up into the neck loop from underneath.
- Down through both loops in the front.
- Tighten the knot by pulling down on the wide end. Slide the knot up & adjust. The first loop should show slightly underneath the second loop.
