The kids are at the sitter’s. Your partner is out with his friends. It’s just you, your home, and an evening to relax and re-energize yourself.
But where do you start? What should you do with the time that you have been given to spend time alone?
Well, that’s entirely up to you, but here are some suggestions if you need a little inspiration.
1. START YOUR EVENING WITH A LONG BATH
With no kids hammering at the door every five minutes desperate to use the loo, you now have the opportunity to let go of your stress and worries with a nice relaxing bath. With no need to rush, you can lie beneath the hot water as long as you need to, perhaps while taking in the fresh aromas of scented candles and listening to your favorite tunes on your Alexa device.
2. WEAR SOMETHING DESIGNED FOR COMFORT
You don’t need to worry about being fashionable when you’re relaxing in your own company. After you have had a relaxing bath, get into something that you can lounge in, be it a baggy pair of pants, your favorite pair of pajamas, or simply relax in your underwear, perhaps with a cozy blanket wrapped around you on the sofa.
3. CREATE A RELAXING MOOD
Dim the lights, play soft music in the background, and surround yourself with the scents you love, be that with candles, flowers, or an incense burner. You might want to have a tidy-up too, as you are never going to relax properly if there is clutter around you. When you have created a relaxing mood, you should then find your spot to relax in the evening and consider the next two points.
4. INDULGE IN ONE OF YOUR GUILTY PLEASURES
With nobody around to keep an eye on you, now might be the time to indulge in something a little naughty. It could be a large bowl of strawberry ice cream, a fruity alcoholic cocktail, or something a little exotic from the hookah store. Of course, if healthy living is your priority, you don’t have to partake of those guilty pleasures that will ruin your health goals. Choose those alternatives that could be seen as indulgent, but that won’t ruin your figure, such as a low-fat chocolate snack or a tasty fruit smoothie.
5. DO SOMETHING YOU ENJOY
If you have a family to care for, it might be that you don’t get a lot of time to spend with those things that you personally enjoy. So, now that you’re alone treat yourself with your personal pleasures in life. You might enjoy a movie marathon, for example, with those films that make you laugh or cry. You could return to your reading list and pick up one of those books that have been sitting on your shelves for far too long. And you could spend time with a hobby that will relax you, so you might paint a picture, write a poem, or dance the night away to the music you have chosen.
