Welcome to the Bronx. The Bronx could’t let Manhattan have all the fun, so the boogie down developed it’s own fashion week. On September 5th – 7th 2014, at the Andrew Freeman Home, was the first ever Bronx Fashion Week.
Spearheaded by Flora Montes, BXFW featured a wide range of local designers focusing on high end to casual fashion.
One of the first events I attend was sponsored by Prom King NYC and Opera Magazine. Prom King is a Bronx-based organization that outfits young urban males with clothing for life. Their event was called The Bronx Suits Up!, which was a menswear thrift sale and donation drive. I was able to pick up some great deals while donating some items for a great cause.
Everything, from the blazers to the ties, was donated.
Really excited to see what next year has to offer for Bronx Fashion Week. I’ll be posting about the fashion shows later on, so be on the look out for that!
If you are ever in the Bronx, you should check out some of my favorite food options there!
