Planning a first date can be stressful. You don’t know what to expect, but you want to put your best foot forward. You’re either going to leave with a second date or get ghosted. After all, a first impression lasts a lifetime. No pressure.
However, first dates aren’t all that bad. They’re great ways to break the ice with someone that piqued your interest. The key to a good first date is the location. Opt for dates that can foster communication easily while avoiding clubs, bars, and concerts. There’s no denying rocking out at venues is fun, but if you want to score a second date, you’re going to want to hear what your date has to say. Here are a few date night ideas that will help you get to know your date and let the sparks fly.
Go on a Picnic
Going on a date doesn’t have to be expensive. Although luxurious restaurants are nice, they’re just not as private. Servers come and go, ultimately disrupting the moment. Outdoor picnics are inexpensive, fun, and intimate. You and your date can be yourselves and discuss openly without interruptions.
What’s a picnic without food? This is your opportunity to debut your culinary skills and leave your date asking for seconds. Pack a soft cooler with champagne, cider, or wine to go along with your food. Make it extra romantic by taking a few aphrodisiac snacks, such as chocolate, strawberries, and watermelon to your date. Trust me, they’ll get the chemistry flowing.
Picking the right picnic spot is crucial to setting the tone of your date. Picturesque backdrops of the beach or city skyline are wonderful ideas. If you live in an area with a lot of rainfall, consider having an indoor picnic. It’ll get the two of you nice and cozy.
Visit a Museum
Museums are a go-to date spot for a reason. Former President and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama, actually had their first date at the Art Institute in Chicago. In an interview, he wanted all men to know that “art impresses people.” He’s not wrong. Museums are great places for you and your date to learn about each other and exchange different thoughts about the world. It’s easy to share ideas about what you think a certain painting conveys or have some good laughs about peculiar-looking exhibits.
Museums don’t just have to revolve around intellectual discussions about the world. Numerous museums are fun and encourage creativity. For instance, the Museum of Ice Cream is lively, entertaining, and offers great photo opportunities for your social media accounts. Dress in your favorite outfit for a night out and start visiting a few museums.
Shop at the Farmer’s Market
Farmer’s markets make the perfect first date. Don’t believe me? Everything you need is at the farmer’s market. Flowers, snacks, fresh produce, you name it. Have a stroll through the market and take advantage of everything it has to offer. Before heading out to the farmer’s market, you can eat breakfast at a restaurant within walking distance.
An easy date to work into your day at the farmer’s market is to make a meal with ingredients sold by local vendors. Think about what the two of you want to cook beforehand and start picking out the finest ingredients. If you don’t want to cook, you can buy a can of jam, honey, cheese, meat, bread, and crackers to enjoy it at a nearby park. Whatever you decide, it will taste amazing because everything is fresh.
Go Stargazing
Prove to your date it was written in the stars. This unique date will leave you two in awe and wondering about how vast the universe is. For this to go well, you need to do your research. It’s easy to accomplish once you have the location, date, and time. Opt for days when the sky is clear for the best views.
Pack a waterproof blanket, hot chocolate, a few snacks, and start looking for cupid in the night sky. Bring a portable speaker with you as well to set the mood for the night.
Now that your first date is over, are you ready for your second? Time to put on your thinking cap and get planning!
Thanks for reading and y’all stay dandy.
