BEARD GROWING BLUNDERS TO AVOID

BEARD GROWING BLUNDERS TO AVOID - dandy in the bronx

Decided you want to grow a beard? Here are a few blunders to avoid as a beard beginner.

Giving up on your beard too early

Growing a beard takes patience and commitment. While some people can grow a beard in a week, most people have to wait much longer for their beard to develop. In fact, it can take many people two months or more.

Facial hair can grow in patches for many people. Enduring through this patchy period is key – there may be areas that don’t really have any growth but if you wait long enough your facial hair will grow in other places, drop down and eventually cover up these patches.

In some cases, a beard may come out in an unexpected colour. In these cases, dyeing your beard is an option. Don’t be put off by an unwanted ginger tuft.

Not using beard oil

Using beard oil will help your beard to look healthier. Quality beard growth oil can help to provide nutrients that allow you to achieve a shinier and fuller beard more easily. Beard oils also have the added benefit of moisturising skin and reducing itchiness. On top of this, oil can make your beard easier to comb.

There are many different beard oil products on the market. Try out different beard oils to find the best product for you.

Not combing your beard

On the topic of combing, you must comb your beard. Like hair on the head, beard hair can become messy and knotted if you don’t regularly comb it. You’ll also help to eliminate dandruff from your beard.

Longer beards may require a brush. There are specialist bristle brushes on the market that you can buy to help with beard brushing.

Getting the neckline wrong

Neckbeards are generally viewed as unattractive – when growing out a beard, most people shave away the hair on their neck. However, you need to be sure that you don’t shave away too much.

Having some hair under your chin will help your beard to look fuller. Imagine that there is u-shape joining up your ears – try to maintain this u-shape when shaving. This will keep your beard looking neat.

Overlooking the moustache

Most people growing out a beard also grow out their moustache. When it comes to grooming, the moustache has its own rules – it shouldn’t be viewed as part of the beard. Overlook your moustache and your beard will look scruffy.

There are different styles of moustache that are worth looking into. To achieve these styles, you’ll want to use some mustache wax. Some pruning with scissors may also be required to keep your moustache under control.
