For Roadtrip Joy Do These Four Things Before You Leave

Prepping for Your Next Road Trip - dandy in the bronx

You too can experience true road trip joy on your next adventure. If you follow one or more of the suggestions below. Read on to find out what they are.

Plan your route

The ‘great wild yonder’ may seem like a fun idea when you are all tucked up and cozy at home. Yet, it can be entirely different when you are experiencing it. Indeed, there can be plenty of risks and complications in a trip that isn’t properly planned, at least with an end destination in mind.

One of the biggest advantages of planning your trip before you leave is that you can book things like your accommodation. This is a good idea as it means you won’t need to worry that there will be no space left for you when you arrive.

Another great advantage is that by planning your entire route and your accommodation you can much more easily break down each leg of your trip. This will make it more manageable, and more enjoyable because you will have more time to appreciate each part.

Pack your supplies

No road trip is complete without the right supplies. This means all the yummy snacks and drinks you’ll need to stay refreshed and field up on the road. If you want to keep things healthy, then plenty of bottled water and some high protein and fiber food options can work well. Think vegetable sticks, hummus, and nuts and seeds.

Of course, for many of us, half the fun of a road trip is the slurpees and bad-for-you snacks we get to eat along the way. If this is the case for you then you might want to schedule some gas station stops so you can stock up on Funyuns and Doritos too!

Have a plan in place for breakdowns

One of the most valuable things you can do before your next road trip is make a plan in case of breakdowns. Breaking down can have a serious effect on your trip as it will not only delay your progress, but it can hamper your enjoyment and comfort as well.

Fortunately, by doing your homework ahead of time you can minimize such risks. The way to do this is to find a local auto repairing and towing specialist operating along your route, ahead of time. Then save their contact information into your phone, meaning you’ll know exactly who to contact if you suffer a mechanical fault, or need a repair.

Check your vehicle

Yet, you may be able to avoid breakdowns altogether by checking and maintaining certain aspects of your vehicle before you set on. In particular, checking that all your car’s fluid levels are correct is a good idea. This is because by doing this you can ensure that your vehicle will run as efficiently and as safely as possible during your journey. Additionally, checking your tyres before you leave to ensure they have the right tread level is crucial. This is because if your tires are too worn down they will not provide enough grip on the road. In turn, this can make you more prone to serious accidents.
