Halloween Costumes You can Still Look Real Good In

We’re heading into fall, which means it’s time to, once again, ask the eternal question of “what on earth should I dress up as for Halloween?”

You might want to take the easy or lazy route, but whether you’re looking to catch the eye of a certain someone at a Halloween party, or simply to make a good impression, here are a few ideas that can get you in the spirit while still looking good.

Making a Suit Work

Now, if you really want to look your best, then a well-tailored suit is going to do the trick, but what makes it a costume is your ability to customize it to match the look of the character you’re trying to be. A Great Gatsby costume is more than just a great-looking suit, you want to try and have some of the more old-fashioned accents to go with it, like a hat made for a dandy or some old-school cufflinks. Even better if you have some companions to go as flappers to make it a group costume. There are tons of characters that rock a suit, from James Bond to John Wick. Just avoid the Joker look. It’s really played out at this point.

A Pirate Without the Corniness

The original bad boys of the sea is always a great look, especially if you rock the slightly alternative look. However, a lot of pirate costumes veer on the side of cartoony colors and obnoxious parrot accessories. You can find some great pirates costumes for men that veer a little more towards Pirates of the Carribean or Black Sails than Captain Hook. The truth behind pirates might be a little less romantic than the stories we tell of them, but they do have that dangerous flair that can hit some people a certain way.

If You’ve got the Body for It

Don’t try to look like Gerrard Butler from the 300. That’s not a healthy body for anyone to have. However, if you want to rock a costume that shows off a little more physique, then the 300 Workout can get you as close as is healthily possible. Just try not to be too obnoxious about it. People don’t want to see you preen, they want to see you look good in a costume.

Be Kenough

If you don’t have a lot of time to put together something more elaborate or specific, then if you’re going to go for a lazy outfit, why not make it one that’s a little more topical? Instead of having a Superman t-shirt beneath a white shirt, you can go with the Ken trend that has skyrocketed in popularity due to the explosion of Barbie into the cinema. It’s best if you can rock a spray dye or a blonde wig for the night, but not all Kens have blonde hair, as the movie clearly showed.

Of course, the ideas above are just that. They’re examples to help you get an idea of some of the directions you can take that are a little less on the goofy side, allowing you to attend any fall function in style.
