7 SIGNS YOU NEED TO TAKE UP A NEW HOBBY

It’s official; it’s wintertime. That means “Netflix and chill” for most of us as it’s easy to fall into that trap and catch up on all the latest shows.

But what if the list of binge-worthy shows is dwindling down? It might be time to pick up something different. The signs that you may need a new hobby may come as a bit of a surprise. Let’s see what you’re doing that could be a telltale sign of needing to find a new hobby.

Have We Forgotten How to Read?

So often society is used to shortening phrases and keeping things simple by things like, “K”, “LOL”, or using Google to find out what words mean or finding synonyms. Studies show that this is not stimulating to the brain. So let’s learn how to talk again instead of relying on a thesaurus and spell-check all the time. Books have the main thing we need to solve this problem- words. Readers may even find that it reduces stress. Maybe you could even learn to read, write, and speak another language. If you are more proficient in finding memes and GIFS, this could be a sign that it’s time to pick up something new while stimulating the brain.

Health and Exercise

What about the refrigerator and freezer? What’s that looking like? If it’s full of pre-made meals, perhaps it’s time to channel your inner Betty Crocker. Grab a cookbook and see where it leads you! A home-cooked meal can be much more enjoyable and satisfying knowing that you did it yourself. What about getting that weight off, though? Not exercising is another key sign you may need a new hobby. There’s a new unique way of getting some exercise in while still having fun. Have you heard of the latest trend, Axe Throwing? This is a great way to blow off some steam and get a little exercise while doing so. Don’t be afraid to Google Axe Throwing Places Near Me and see what you find. It is amazing how challenging yet fun this activity can be.

Environment

Let’s talk about outside the home. If the garden is looking like a jungle, or there’s no garden at all, maybe a little more nature wouldn’t hurt. Gardening is a stress reducer and even gets the blood flowing a little. Once the plants are growing and compliments are coming in from neighbors, satisfaction kicks in. Or maybe the same environment is getting boring to look at. This, too, could be a sign that a little more adventure is needed! What better way to do that than by traveling? Life is too short to stay in one place! Something needed to travel though is going to be pants. Some of us may have forgotten we need them after all our time spent at home. So, let’s learn how to work a zipper again and get on the go.

It’s crazy how these small, everyday factors are indicators a new hobby could be helpful! If any of the above sounds like something you’ve been doing or not doing, take these into consideration. It may shock how much a new hobby can affect your mental health, physical health, and bring adventure into your life. Evaluate your current hobbies and use these 7 signs to seek something new.

Thanks for reading and y’all stay dandy.
