4 SITUATIONS WHERE TOOTH EXTRACTION CAN NO LONGER BE DELAYED

Tooth damage is the most common reason that people lose teeth. Periodontal disease is a permanent condition that damages the teeth and gums. If a dental professional cannot correct the problem, it may be time for an extraction procedure to low health risks.

Extractions are either simple or require surgery. Orthodontists and periodontists perform extractions that are surgical according to their client’s needs. Whenever possible, dental associates complete preliminary services to repair damage and try to save the affected tooth. If these measures are unsuccessful, they must complete an extraction surgery or procedure to remove the tooth and decrease health risks.

When A Root Canal Failed

When a tooth becomes infected frequently, it is because of weak spots in the enamel, and cavities are often present. The bacteria reaches the inside of the tooth where the nerve is exposed. During a root canal, a Family Dentist removes the nerve and the pulp to give the patient relief from the pain. The tooth is sealed off to keep germs out. If the attempts don’t work, the tooth must be extracted to prevent more complications.

End-Stage Periodontal Disease

Gum disease won’t go away, and there is no cure for it. Dental professionals can only delay the inevitable by cleaning the gums and teeth. They remove damaged gum tissue through scaling and planing services. At the final stages of the disease, there are pockets around the gum line where germs and bacteria populate. As the gums recede, the tooth roots weaken, and the teeth become loose. At this phase, many periodontists recommend total extraction for all damaged teeth.

Impacted Wisdom Tooth

Wisdom teeth may fail to erupt through the gum lines and increase the risk of infections. A gum flap allows plaque and other particles to accumulate inside it. If the tooth is impacted, a dental professional must complete oral surgery to extract the tooth. Recovery from the tooth removal involves pain, discomfort, and the possibility of a dry socket. If the condition goes untreated, an abscess could develop and allow the infection to enter the bloodstream. Some wisdom teeth problems could be life-threatening.

To Correct Overcrowding

Orthodontists provide individuals with braces to correct their alignment if a person has crooked teeth. When reviewing their teeth, the dental professional looks to see if they have too many teeth and any underlying teeth that haven’t broken through the gum line.

The dentist’s assessment shows how many teeth must be extracted for the most benefits. Some people may need more than four teeth extracted according to where they are in the mouth and if the teeth are applying pressure onto other teeth.

Dental professionals may review digital images of the patient’s mouth and pinpoint all teeth they need to remove. After the removals, they can provide the person with braces to force out of place teeth back into their proper position. The type of braces they offer determines if the individual wears the devices for two years, or if they can get Invisalign.

Severe conditions increase the number of extractions performed on clients. Teeth that are irreparable must be removed to prevent devastating results. Infections, abscesses, and pain are symptoms of serious dental problems. If the dentist cannot correct the problem through repairs or preventative services, the tooth must be extracted promptly. Dental professionals can explain when their customers must undergo an extraction procedure and why.
