Arthur Avenue in the Bronx is rich with history. From family owned Italian restaurants to Albanian shops, you can see the past, present, and future run in these streets. I had to pleasure to work with fellow Bronxite, Shaira Chaer, to shoot some of these. Her photography no only consists of traditional DSLRs, but also old school cameras. For the following pictures, she used a Hasselblad 500C.
Where am I? The lovely Ferry Point Park in The Bronx! Maybe you saw it when ANTHONY BOURDAIN stopped by here during his show. I was inspired by the East River that flows here and went with this blue on blue look.
How do you choose a belt? If you have been using a traditional belt with holes, you may have found yourself in a situation where the belt doesn’t perfectly fit. Or the holes don’t end up in the right place for you. Another situation is your belt fitting well, but ending up being too long! Luckily, I had a chance to try out Railtek Belts, the ratchet belts with no holes.
I did this shoot during my lunch break. I have mentioned this a few times on my twitter and snapchat (dandyinthebronx) that I used to work at the The Tie Bar Pop Up Shop. Not only do I get to be surrounded by ties all day, but I get to be a little dandy and be paid for it! This outfit was inspired by the movie KINGSMEN, perhaps the best menswear in film.
The age old question of what came first, the chicken or the egg is a query that surfaces in many different areas of life. For example, is it our clothes and what we choose to wear that increase our confidence and self-esteem? Or, should how we feel and our already existing confidence be the first layer we put on when we get dressed in the morning?
Spring is finally here! I decided to try out a more “casual” look. Well, casual for me, at least. I was able to bring Nick, of Coastal Flicks, down to the boogie down to help shoot in Mott Haven, The Bronx.
Growing up in South Texas and receiving labels from teachers, counselors, coaches, friends, and family is what drove the passion in Arturo Castañeda to create his own label. After moving to New York and being mentored by some of the top names in the fashion industry, a new label was born – Cielo Brands!
I had the chance to bring Nick of Coastal Flicks to my hood. We went to Mott Haven in the Bronx to set up the heist of the century.

Frank & Oak Hunt Club is no more.
I’ve been using Frank & Oak ever since it was invite only. Hunt Club was a huge differentiator at the time. It allowed you to try clothes risk free, as long you returned them in time. Shipping was free both ways and you got 4% credit back from every purchase.
