So it’s almost the end of summer, which means one thing for us dandy gents; it’s back to reality and back to the daily grind. At this point in the year, everyone is going through those depressing late summer withdrawals. Right around now, we’re all thinking about squeezing in those last minute trips, getting ready for fall (who doesn’t love fall/winter fashion, and of course NYFW?!), and getting ready for school and/or work.
ENDING SUMMER PRACTICALLY
So for this post, I am going to detail how to be ready for this transition and how to make it a dandy one, using my key transitional essential, the SWISSGEAR Backpack, which has made the transition super effortless for my on-the go lifestyle.

Since I am trying to maximize what’s left of summer, this past weekend I decided to venture out into the city I call home, which happens to be New York City. I was in total daycation mode, and wanted to stay local because I traveled a lot this summer (obviously in dandy style, of course). So I wanted to give myself a break and explore, my city. Why backpack through Europe, when you can do it here in your own city. Sometimes we take living in the city for granted, whether it’s LA, Miami, Chicago, or The Bronx (have you guys been to the Statue of Liberty? Because I still haven’t). So I knew I was going to rectify this in true dandy fashion. So let’s explore my city together, and backpack like a Dandy.

Backpacking through your city doesn’t mean you have to go to all the standard sites. Be creative. Be dandy! It’s all about the experience, the views, and the good times you have with friends. Finding those unexpected spots and undiscovered locations, is what make NYC so unique (and an awesome place to blog!). I was looking to relax, maybe get some reading and writing done, and definitely have some fun. For this outfit, I was going for a casual cool look with classic suiting pieces and monochromatic tones. To keep this look fun and spontaneous, but still Dandy, I went with a cotton t-shirt, my signature retro inspired shades, and a cool funky hat. I finished with a simple one color pocket square, and my bold faced watch (got to keep track of time for the next dandy adventure)! And of course, the most important piece was my SWISSGEAR backpack, which was sturdy, comfortable, functional, and still cool to carry around as I gallivanted around the city. As a New Yorker, it’s crucial that I am able to carry all my essentials in a swift and seamless (and dandy!) fashion, especially if I’m spending the day hanging out with friends, reading, and shooting for the blog. The backpack has made my blogger lifestyle doable in NYC. The backpack also has a special slot for my laptop, along with enough room to fit in my other tech, like my camera, iPad, phone, and magazines (a dandy has to stay abreast on current trends and news!). Functionally Dandy indeed.

Since we got squeezing in those last minute end of summer trips out of the way, I want to share with you guys on how to transition to back to the work, but still getting that maximum mileage from those summer looks. I know we’re all dreading getting back to the daily hustle, but don’t worry guys, I got you guys covered with these easy tips! As you know, living and commuting in NYC means you are always constantly moving, whether it’s through the subway, walking down Central Park, or Citi biking it, so functionality is important. So for this look, I’m getting some last licks from my summer khaki suit (perfect for crisp Fall weather) and rocking a summer inspired print for one last hurrah (hoping for that Indian summer in September!), and of course my SWISSGEAR backpack. The backpack has made my transition back to work easy and efficient getting though NYC and fitting all my tech and accessories. Who says you can’t have functional, cool, and great quality in one?
