TIPS FOR THE NEWBIE MOTOCROSS DRIVERS

Every beginning is difficult! This also applies to most beginners in motocross. The noise, the slippery ground, the speed and the resulting stress are predestined for making a lot of mistakes, especially at the beginning on the motocross track, and for feeling quite insecure. The problem is that if you internalize incorrect driving techniques or habits right from the start, these can only be corrected with a lot of effort.

That is why it is all the more important to observe and train certain things right from the start. Otherwise the fun of motocross riding will only be short-lived. It’s best to take a look at the following beginner tips and hints and try to stick to them. Firstly you can look at Youth Motocross Gear

MISTAKE # 1: ONLY RIDE WHILE SEATED

Most motocross beginners ride permanently while sitting, injuring their intervertebral discs in this way and letting their arms be pulled out by the motorcycle. When you sit down, you don’t really develop any further in terms of riding technique and are often just a passenger on the MX bike.

TIP FOR BEGINNERS:

Stand up and practice driving while standing! While standing you can clamp the bike with your legs and thereby let your arms loose. In this way you last longer, prevent arm pumps and can cushion uneven floors much better. In addition, you let the motorcycle do its work while standing and thus save a lot of energy. It’s best to take a look at the fast guys. 90% of these drive while standing and usually only sit down at the apex of a curve in order to be able to accelerate out efficiently.

MISTAKE # 2: SITTING TOO FAR BACK

If you are already sitting on your MX bike, make sure that you take a seat near the front of the bike. The legs belong to the tank and the buttocks to the front third of the bench. This way you can let the MX bike drift better because you are close to the steering axis. In addition, you automatically take a so-called “attack position”, as your arms and elbows point upwards and you gain significantly more control over your machine.

TIP FOR BEGINNERS:

If you sit far enough forward, you can press your feet against the footrests when accelerating. This takes the strain off your arms and allows you to let the motorcycle push you forward instead of letting it pull you. Save yourself the strength, because you will definitely need it.

MISTAKE # 3: NOT LOOKING FAR ENOUGH AHEAD

Many beginners, but also advanced riders, don’t look far enough into the track and just watch what their front wheel is doing. In this way, a smooth driving style cannot be created and the speed will not increase either. These drivers are particularly at risk of hitting all obstacles and ruts exactly which they actually want to avoid. Because, as is well known, the motorcycle goes exactly where you look. The risk of accidents increases enormously and the fear of such obstacles does not decrease in the long run.
