TIPS FOR PACKING FOOD AND DRINK FOR A ROAD TRIP

When you are heading out on the road for the day or even weeks at a time, it is important to pack some food. The key to packing food is making sure that it will not spoil easily in your vehicle’s warm environment, and that it is healthy and nutritious. Here are some tips to help you plan for your next road trip.

Choose Food That Won’t Spoil

For road trips, you need foods that won’t spoil. Here are some foods that you should consider:

  • Cereal
  • Cheese
  • Cookies
  • Granola bars
  • Peanut butter
  • Pretzels
  • Crackers
  • Trail mix
  • Fruit
  • Canned vegetables

Make sure that you get proper containers to carry all the food. Using the right container will help to prevent spoilage as well. Carry a cooler along with you to keep some of your food fresh.

Pack Healthy Snacks

It’s always a good idea to pack snacks for any road trip. Packing snacks will help you to avoid spending too much on fast food while traveling

You can ensure that you have enough to eat by making sandwiches ahead of time with things like peanut butter, honey, and bananas. Sandwiches are easy to eat without utensils.

However, this does not mean you should avoid packing utensils altogether since they may become necessary at some point. Make sure you pack disposable plastic ones so you don’t have to wash them.

Pack Your Drinks

What should you drink while on the road? No matter how long your journey is, it’s important to stay hydrated, water is always a great choice.

Coffee and tea are delicious beverages, but they’re not the only way to get a caffeine jolt.

Cocoa powder can be drunk as well. Use it as you would use coffee grounds, add hot water to it, stir until it is dissolved, then enjoy.

If you have to stop somewhere to rest for the night, bring along some Trail Hopper IPA beer to enjoy while you are relaxing in the evening.

Whether you book a bed and breakfast, motel, or hotel for the night make sure that you check out the menu for any place you plan to stay before you book. If you are traveling with your family and all you have had on the road are snacks, when you have to stay somewhere for the night you will want to ensure that you can get a hearty meal.

It is never a good idea to just assume that you will be able to find the right place to stay along the way. Always plan ahead, and find out the menu for breakfast or lunch, depending on how long you will stay before heading out onto the road again.

Get On The Road

Packing the right food and drink is essential if you want to ensure that you don’t become frustrated on your road trip. You need to be careful of the kind of food that you carry. This is because some foods spoil easily and this can be problematic.

You also want to ensure that you pack healthy foods that are easy to prepare while you are on the road. The bottom line is that with careful planning you should be able to enjoy your trip and be properly nourished along the way if you take the time to plan ahead.
