You might think that you need to hire a team of designers and spend thousands of dollars on beautiful furniture and luxurious fabrics to give your home a luxurious feel. But, with some creativity and elbow grease, you can create the same feeling without! Here are four ways that I’ve used to make my home look like it belongs on an expensive magazine cover:
Curate Quality Lighting
The proper lighting can add an expensive feel to any space. So whether you choose a chandelier or custom sconces, make sure that your lights are quality and will last for years to come. Of course, you don’t need to go out and spend thousands of dollars on the fanciest fixtures; even hardware stores like this one carry beautiful light fixtures these days! Instead, it’s recommended asking around at local antique shops – they might have some stunning vintage lamps that would look amazing in your home! Lighting also helps create different moods throughout the day: bright natural sunlight is perfect for breakfast nooks, while dimmable recessed lights set a romantic ambiance when it’s time for dinner.
Use Wallpaper as Decor
Wallpaper has a luxury feel that is hard to beat. When used as decor, it adds texture and color without breaking the bank! If your walls are already painted a neutral color, you can take advantage of this by adding wallpaper as wall accents or as part of the room’s design scheme. You might be tempted to go with expensive designer-brand papers from stores like shotcount wallpapers, but don’t do it: there are plenty of affordable options out there too! Etsy is my favorite place for buying vintage prints and new patterns at reasonable prices – make sure that they’re removable, so you aren’t locked into one look forever!
Layer Textures
Adding different textures is a simple way to create contrast and add visual interest. Inexpensive ways to do these include layering rugs on top of the flooring, using thick curtains or drapes instead of blinds/sheers, adding an area rug in the living room, or decorating sofas with a cashmere merino throw, etc. If you’re looking for some more expensive high-end design touches that will make your home feel luxurious without breaking the bank: try faux fur throws draped over chairs or sofas – they look fantastic!
Add Natural Elements Everywhere
Living rooms might be the first room you think of to add a luxurious feel, but don’t ignore other spaces in your home! Adding natural elements like plants and flowers make any space look more expensive. You can even bring nature indoors with fresh or faux florals for a gorgeous touch that will have people wondering how much it costs! Even just one vase full of tulips on a side table makes such a difference – giving your home’s interior design personality without breaking the bank.
You don’t need to spend a fortune and hire an expensive designer to give your home a luxurious feel. Instead, with some creativity, you can turn any space into one that looks like it belongs in the pages of an exclusive magazine!
Thanks for reading and y’all stay dandy.
