Usually, when you’re buying a truck, you’re focused on how powerful it is and how much it can carry, now how many miles you get to the gallon. In fact, you probably just assume that it’s going to get terrible mileage, but you’re willing to make that sacrifice because of the great benefits of owning a truck.
However, if you are using your truck for city driving and it’s going to be your day-to-day car, you might be more concerned about it. Some people would just tell you to get a car for everyday use instead, but what if you still need a truck and you can’t afford two vehicles? In that case, you need to find trucks that get good mileage. People might tell you that they don’t exist but that isn’t true. These are the most fuel efficient trucks on the market right now.
Chevrolet Silverado
When you’re looking for fuel efficiency, you might be expecting to make sacrifices on size and power, but that isn’t the case. The Chevy Silverado is the most fuel efficient truck money can buy right now. It gets 23 miles per gallon when driving around the city and 33 miles on the highway, which is impressive for a truck of this size. The powerful engine and excellent driving position make for a smooth ride every time, and the brake-pedal feel is excellent too. The interiors are a little basic compared with other trucks on the market, but if you’re looking for a large truck that gets great mileage, the Chevy Silverado is your best option.
Ford Ranger
If you prefer a midsize truck, the Ford Ranger is a good choice. It gets 21 miles per gallon in the city and 23 miles on the highway. It was voted pickup of the year in 2019 and 2020, and it’s equally good as a work vehicle as it is as a family car. All trucks have the benefit of size but the Ford Ranger is better than most, with one of the longest load areas around and a Super Cab option with more space up front. The interiors are packed full of great tech and the infotainment system is excellent. If you’re looking for a comfortable but capable truck that gets good mileage, look no further than the Ford Ranger.
GMC Sierra
The GMC Sierra gets 22 miles to the gallon in the city and 26 on the highway but it’s the customization options that really set it apart. It aims to set itself apart from the other trucks on the market and, in many ways, it is successful in doing that. If possible, it can be equipped with a carbon-fiber cargo bed and a multifunctional tailgate for added utility. You can also choose from a range of different engines if you like, and they are all very fuel efficient. If any truck is going to compete with the Chevrolet Silverado, it’s the GMC Sierra.
Trucks aren’t usually known for their fuel efficiency but if you want something more economical, these are the best options.
