Buying gifts for family, friends, and loved ones can be incredibly difficult, especially as time goes on and especially as you realize just how much stuff they already have. So, how do you find a gift that you know they will love and cherish and one that will be memorable and fashionable at the same time?
Start with the recipient
What does the recipient enjoy doing, what do they love to do with their free time? What are their interests and hobbies? Knowing a person and what they like and dislike will give you a good starting point as to what type of gift to get. For example, if you know they love to read then a stack of books is the perfect gift, as is a book voucher. A memorable gift could be something that is cherished for years to come, like a blanket made out of their favorite t-shirts from Myt-shirtblanket.com or that necklace that features the initials of their children. Forget the flowers, wine, and chocolates as they will not last longer than a few short days, and they most likely won’t be that memorable either.
Know your budget
Yes, talking about money is boring, but if you know how much you can spend, or want to spend, then it makes shopping just that bit easier. Think about what you want to get and how far your money will stretch. Don’t get yourself into trouble with money just to buy the “perfect gift.” Instead, focus on getting the right gift for the person. Fashion is individual and personal. Fashionable doesn’t always necessarily mean the most expensive thing in the store, so keep this in mind.
Hit the Shops
The high street stores and online stores are some of the best places to start looking for gifts and presents, so take a bit of time out of your day to look at what is for sale now. If you feel the recipient will love this gift, then that is great. You can alleviate a lot of stress and hassle by buying something ready and wrapped from a store, but if you can’t find anything in the stores, it may be time to go down the handcrafted and creative route and focus on a gift that is truly more personal.
Go Personal
Having items created or making something yourself, from vases to clothing really shows how much attention you pay to the recipient and how much you care. If you know they like unique and individual items that nobody else might have in their home, then commission an artist to create something for them, or look at getting a sculpture created. A gift that is truly memorable will be one that is loved, used, and seen on a daily basis; it won’t be something that is locked in the cupboard for the majority of the year, and it certainly won’t be the item that you can’t ever touch, feel or look at.
Use these top tips to make buying the perfect gift that much easier.
