The cold season is upon us, which means a lot more time spent indoors. Wouldn’t it be great to find something interesting to do rather than waste your time in front of the TV? Here are a few DIY activities to keep yourself busy and get some stuff done around the house.
Useful Woodwork Projects
Remember the woodwork project you did back in school? It was probably a lot of fun. You can get back into this handy pastime; it’s never too late to return to a past hobby.
All you need are some basic tools, some of which you probably already have, as well as some free time. As for the wood, that’s not complicated as you can use pallets or repurpose the wood planks in the old sideboard that you were going to throw away.
If you have some experience with woodworking, that’s great. If you don’t, start with well-built woodworking projects for beginners. How about some shelves for the living room or the kitchen?
After you’ve mastered basic woodworking, you can graduate to more challenging projects. Perhaps you’ll even surprise your partner with a handmade jewelry box or build some wood toys for the kids.
Homemade Skin Care Products
Since you’re working so hard on your woodwork projects, you’re going to need a good deodorant to contain the sweat. Unfortunately, the stick in your bathroom is likely not a great one.
While it might smell nice and do its job, the aluminum in commercial products has been questioned as unhealthy. While you could hunt around for a natural deodorant, another option is to make one yourself.
While you’re at it, why not make your own shaving cream too?
Natural Shaving Cream Recipe
As you embrace the natural deodorant, start to think about what else you could DIY in your morning routine. Shaving cream is something else that you can make by using a simple recipe.
Don’t worry, this is a straightforward thing to do. You can find all the ingredients at locals stores or order online for a more convenient option.
All you need is 2 1/2 oz shea butter, 2 1/2 oz coconut oil, 3 tbsp castile soap and 2 tsp jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, or grapeseed oil.
Begin by melting the shea butter and coconut oil in a pot. Then, add the soap and oil of your choice. Use a stand mixer to stir the mixture for two minutes until it becomes fluffy, then pour it into a glass jar with a lid. That’s it!
Since you’ve gone through all the trouble of buying a lot of stuff, you can also make yourself an aftershave cream. Use 1/8 cup of coconut oil, 1/2 cup of melted shea butter, and add 2-4 drops of essential oil for fragrance. Here are a few essential oils with a more masculine scent you might want to try: cedarwood, sandalwood, tobacco, fir or oakmoss.
Conclusions about DIY Projects
Your DIY projects await, from woodworking to skincare and hygiene products. There are a lot of things you can do with minimal effort, all while looking proudly at what you’ve made at the end of the day.
Some preparations need to be undertaken before you head out for your road trip; these include checking your car to make sure it’s up for a long drive. Avoid common road trip mistakes by having your vehicle inspected by a professional before you hit the road. Proper packing and preparations for your road trip will result in a memorable road trip.
