We all want to have a memorable road trip; unfortunately, you cannot just wake up and drive out without planning. You need preparations, where will you sleep? What will you eat? At what stops will you get gas? More so, taking your dog along can make the road trip more fun for everyone. Here is a packing list to help you pack all the essentials for a successful road trip.
Snacks
Snacks are an essential part of your road trip. Apart from saving you from hunger, it will save you money on your road trip. Buying snacks at a gas station may cost you way more than if you buy from your grocery store. Bring in some healthy foods such as nuts, crisps, apples, bananas, carrots, among others.
A Tool Kit
Your car may be the most crucial thing during a road trip; however, no matter how well you prepare it for the long drive, it might still break down during the drive. If you have packed a tool kit, you may be able to fix the issue; however, if you don’t have any tools with you or forgot to bring some with you, a small problem may cause you to need a tow truck.
Clothing
Road trips often involve various settings besides driving; it could be sitting down on mats, going to fancy dinners, camping, or having a walk around the beach. The different scenarios may require different attire. Versatility in your clothing choice is vital; pack durable clothes that will take you through whatever situation you find yourself during your road trip.
You may think a pair of skinny jeans is casual enough, but sitting for over 8 hours in a cramped space of the car in your skinny jeans can be uncomfortable. Instead, go for some comfy pants such as sweatpants.
Pack Essential Dog Supplies
If you are traveling with your dog, ensure that you pack all essential supplies such as food, water, leash, and collar with an ID tag. Bring toys that your dog likes along with treats to keep the pet busy. More importantly, carry your pup’s vet records in case of a medical emergency during the trip.
Toiletries and Personal Hygiene Products
Travelling can take a severe toll on your bodies, and it might be challenging to stay on top of washing your hands and hair when you are out exploring new towns and climbing mountains. However, freshening up every once in a while, especially when buying additional groceries, is a great idea. Make sure you have toiletries for a shower, your morning, and your evening routines. Ensure you have enough toilet paper, some oil, as well as your toothbrush and toothpaste. Even if you are in the wild or continuously on the road, your personal hygiene is essential.
A Travel Pillow
There will be a lot of driving during the road trip, and it is vital that the driver stays alert throughout the journey; however, the passengers may take a nap during the drive. Comfort is essential during the road trip; you don’t want to end up with neck pains after your nap, bring along a travel pillow for some comfort when you decide to take a nap.
Noise-Canceling Headphones
Your friends can be quite noisy during the road trip, and you may need some time for yourself, maybe even read a book. These headphones are essential to get you some peace and quiet. They may be a little pricey, but they are worth it. You could also buy wireless headphones that will take up very little space, even fit in your pocket.
Some preparations need to be undertaken before you head out for your road trip; these include checking your car to make sure it’s up for a long drive. Avoid common road trip mistakes by having your vehicle inspected by a professional before you hit the road. Proper packing and preparations for your road trip will result in a memorable road trip.
