TRAVELING WITH DESCENDANT OF THIEVES

With the Holidays coming up, many of you will be traveling to spend time with family and loved one. I’ve teamed up with menswear brand, Descendant of Thieves, to share some travel tips on how to look great while on the move.

I spoke with Matteo Maniatty, owner of menswear brand, Descendant of Thieves. He shared with me how he packs for 21 days all in his carry on. Using only the designs from his brand, Matteo is able to pack appropriately for a holiday encompassing both cold and warm weather.

I had to chance to try out the clothes as well. Here I’m wearing a three piece Descendant of Thieves suit. It consists of a Stack Down Vest, Woolen Blazer, and Run & Gun Fit Woolen Pant. I also wore a Navy Up & Down Jaquard Shirt by Descendant of Thieves. Perfect for refreshing your travel itinerary over and over again.

On a recent trip consisting of visiting fabric mills and dinner with clients, Matteo packed the following pieces:

  1. 2 Reversible layering L/S Knit (sophisticated sweatshirts).
  2. 2 blazers I can flip collar up and turns into light weight outerwear.
  3. 1 My one Outerwear piece is reversible bomber.
  4. 1 Quick dry swim designed to be worn also as a regular short and has stretch properties so good to work out in as well. Water, Walk, Workout
  5. 2 Reversible shorts.
  6. 4 special washed stretch pants and 2 Shirt Killers (knit-shirts) for comfort travel during those long flights… without sacrificing my look.
  7. 7 Wovens I packed my favorites. comfort and style. I packed Tees so I can wear the a shirt twice, once with a tee and the other without one.
  8. 5 Tees: All ultra silky soft cotton blends with a touch of spandex so they maintain color and hold their shape perfeclty. Quick dry in case I need to wash and hang in hotel.
  9. 1 Shawl cardigan sweater worn as a typical cardigan but I also style it like I would a casual blazer (without being a blazer). Throw it in the carry hand luggage in case it gets cold on the plane… And perfect for evening beach sweater.

How is that even possible?

Details great for traveling

Descendant of Thieves clothing is notorious for having secret compartments everywhere. Pants have a concealed zip pocket built into the side pocket which is great for passports, room keys and money. They also have an interior small pocket for valuables. With a total of 9 pockets there is no need to carry a bag. The versatility does not stop there. Pants are also designed to be worn full length or rolled up so they can be worn in different climates. Blazers have a tablet sized(!) zip pocket on inside. Chest pockets come with built in pocket squares (!!) in case you need to look dandy.

Additionally, blazers are also constructed in a way that looks good even when rumpled up a bit from packing. Shirts have engineered “stitch through collar” so your collar always stays in place (even when packing) Reversibles shorts and l/s knits are like packing 2 for 1. The only trick is making sure your tops match your bottoms.

Pieces can be worn separately or all together as demonstrated above.  Layer with the vest or wear it on it’s own. Or, don’t wear it at all! It amazing to have options. Imagine all the space you could save with when your clothing has multiple uses.
